Interesting Things To Do!!!

For those days when you want to do a little more than soak in the hot tub and relax on the front porch.  Here are some suggestions:

  • Biltmore House - I-40 to Exit 51 - Asheville,
  • Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway - hiking, picnics, etc.,  www.nps.govblri
  • Drive the Great Smoky Mountain Parkway (gets you to Gatlinburg, TN & Pigeon Forge, TN0, there are great places to picnic (try Chimney, beautiful with picnic tables, restrooms, and a creek) or hike.  Take a drive to Cades Cove.
  • Gatlinburg, TN - shopping, crafts, The Ripley Aquarium and Ski Ober Gatlinburg.
  • Pigeon Forge, TN - lots of outlet malls and amusement parks with g carts and games.
  • Dollywood - Pigeon Forge, TN.
  • Unto These Hills - Cherokee - great outside play about the Tears of Trails and Cherokee Indians.
  • Visit the Elks - take a drive up 276N to Cove Creek Rd (on left hand side) before I-40.  The elks come out in the evening or early mornings to feed.  Go past the ranger station.  Can't stay after dark.
  • Motorcycle Rides - (home of the Dragon Tail, 318 curves in 11 miles) an
  • Walk through the quaint shoppes of Waynesville on Main Street.
  • Chimney Rock - Great place to hike and picnic.  For those that cannot hike, you can still enjoy too.  There is an elevator that will take you to the top of Chimney Rock and bring you back down.
  • Sliding Rock -
  • Great Smoky Mountain Railroad - This is a great train ride (make sure you sit in the open cars, best view during good weather).  From Bryson City to Nantalahala.
  • Tubing at Deep Creek - Bryson City.
  • Rafting/kayaking - Nantalahala Outdoor Center.
  • Rafting/tubing - Tuckaseegee River (for the younger group).  Not a weight restriction, as water is not as cold.  On Highway 74.
  • Horseback Riding - Queens Riding Stables and Cataloochee Ranch - Maggie Valley
  • Snow skiing - Ski Cataloochee
  • Snow Tubing - Tony's Tube World - Maggie Valley -
